Pascal Matsakis
received the Ph.D. in Computer
Science
(1998), as well as the B.Sc. in Mathematics and the B.Sc. and M.Sc. in
Computer Science,
from Paul
Sabatier University (UPS), Toulouse, France. He was a
member of the Image Processing and Understanding
Research
Group (TCI) at
the
Toulouse Institute of Research in Computer Science (IRIT) until 1999. He was an Assistant Professor in the Department of Computer Engineering and Computer Science (now the Department of Computer Science, CS) and a member of the Computational Intelligence Research Laboratory (CIRL) at the University of Missouri-Columbia (MU), Missouri, USA, from 1999 to 2002. He was an Associate Professor in the Department of Computing and Information Science (now the School of Computer Science, SOCS) at the University of Guelph (UG), Ontario, Canada, from 2002 to 2011, and was promoted to the rank of Professor in 2011. Pascal Matsakis' interests include computer vision, computer graphics, pattern recognition, human-machine interaction, fuzzy set theory and fuzzy logic. His particular field is in the modeling and applications of spatial relationships between multidimensional objects. These relationships are being investigated in many disciplines (e.g., cognitive science, linguistics, geography, artificial intelligence) and find applications in various domains (e.g., human-robot communication, geographic information systems, medical imaging, scene description). |
